Manchester United are weighing up the idea of making a move for Juventus and Serbia striker Dusan Vlahovic, according to a new transfer update.
The Lowdown: Vlahovic a wanted man
The 22-year-old is possibly one of the most talked-about young strikers in the world, having burst onto the scene at Fiorentina, scoring 49 goals in 108 appearances.
Vlahovic has continued to do well at Juve since joining the Serie A giants back in January this year, netting 16 times in his first 36 games, as well as chipping in with four assists.
The Serb is a wanted man amid huge financial troubles in Turin, however, and United have now joined the race after rivals Arsenal initiated talks with the player’s agent this week.
The Latest: United in the mix
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who claim that that the Reds Devils are considering making a move for Vlahovic during the January transfer window.
United are far from alone in showing an interest, though, with Chelsea, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich all mentioned as potential suitors, even though the youngster’s current deal doesn’t expire until 2026.
The Verdict: Could be a superb signing
United are in need of a focal point in their attack, especially following the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo, and Vlahovic could be a wonderful signing, in that respect.
He has so many years ahead of him but is already performing at an exceptional level – away from club form, he has scored ten goals in just 19 caps for Serbia – with Micah Richards calling him ‘lightning’ and ‘ridiculous’.
Vlahovic’s 6 foot 3 frame makes him a nightmare for opposition players to handle, especially as he combined that strength with pace and unerring accuracy in front of goal. He could be the next great striker at Old Trafford if a move comes to fruition, having also been compared to Argentine legend Gabriel Batistuta.
