Manchester United have been boosted in their efforts to sign Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix, with a new report claiming he wants to leave Spanish capital.

The Lowdown: Man Utd linked with Felix move

The Red Devils have strengthened their attack with the signing of Antony from Ajax but they could still do with a new central striker, considering Cristiano Ronaldo is approaching the end of his time with the club and Anthony Martial is injury-prone.

One player who has been linked as a target for United in recent days is Felix, who has fallen out of favour at Atletico this season, only making five starts in La Liga.

Now, a new update suggests that the Red Devils' chances of signing the Portuguese starlet have increased further.

The Latest: New boost emerges

According to Marca [via Sport Witness], Felix is in a ‘complicated situation’ at Atletico currently and he 'can’t stand' the position he finds himself in.

The report also adds that it is the 22-year-old's 'intention is to leave', and although it isn't specified if a January or summer exit is on the cards, Manchester United are again name-checked in the latest update.

The Verdict: Fantastic signing

While Felix may be struggling for minutes at Atletico by his usual standards, he remains a superb young footballer who has been described as 'world-class' by football talent scout Jacek Kulig.

At 22, his best years are still very much ahead of him and he is capable of shining as a striker or a No.10, having scored 29 goals and registered 18 assists in 122 appearances for Atletico.

With Diego Simeone seemingly not seeing Felix as a key player at the moment, United could even swoop in the January transfer window, giving their attack an immediate injection of brilliance and bringing him in as a long-term superstar signing.
