West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United trio Scott McTominay, Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire in the summer transfer window.

The Lowdown: United trio out of favour

The Red Devils are enjoying a memorable season to date, winning the EFL Cup last weekend and still in contention in the Premier League, Europa League and FA Cup.

United have an obvious strongest XI at the moment but three players who aren't a part of that are McTominay, Martial and Maguire, all of whom have played supporting roles.

The trio have only started 18 league games between them in 2022/23 to date, highlighting their lack of playing time.

The Latest: West Ham eyeing summer swoop

According to Football Insider and journalist Pete O'Rourke, West Ham are 'interested' in signing all three of the aforementioned United players this summer, seeing them as options to bolster their squad depths

The Hammers are 'keeping tabs' on the situation currently and manager David Moyes is thought to be a 'big admirer' of them.

The Verdict: All three should move on

McTominay, Martial and Maguire have all done their bit so far this season, chipping in with key contributions at different times - - but a summer exit for all of them makes sense.

The former is not at the same level as the likes of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and even Fred in midfield, and he could become a regular at a lesser Premier League team.

Meanwhile, Martial continues to be hampered by injury problems and his lack of availability, and inconsistency when he does play, makes him expendable, too.

Then there's the £189,000-a-week Maguire, who is not in the same league as Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, looking like an increasingly cumbersome player as the years have passed. A fresh challenge for him also makes complete sense.
