Manchester United could potentially look to sign highly-rated Ajax and Ghana star Mohammed Kudus, according to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Lowdown: Kudus excels at World Cup

There were many players who shone at the 2022 World Cup, with superstars such as Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe standing out, but Kudus was excellent in his own right.

The 22-year-old scored twice in three appearances at the tournament, leading to team-mate Calvin Bassey saying he was 'on fire' for his country.

Kudus has been linked with a move to various clubs since the World Cup, and United are one of those to have been mentioned in recent days.

The Latest: Romano hints at United move

Writing for Caught Offside, Romano claimed that the Red Devils should make a move for the talented attacking midfielder:

"After signing Antony, Lisandro Martinez, and Ten Hag, it would be interesting to see Manchester United pay Ajax big money for another one of their players, in Mohammed Kudus.

"I’m not aware of any contact or negotiation between Manchester United and Kudus as of today."

The Verdict: Special young talent

United have often been guilty of signing older players past their sell-by date, from Edinson Cavani to Cristiano Ronaldo, but they need to turn their attention to younger talent now.

In Kudus, Erik ten Hag could acquire the services of a player with a massive future - the fact that the pair worked together at Ajax between 2020 and 2022 can only bode well, suggesting they know each other very well.

The Ghanaian's ability to play in either midfield or attack would add versatility to United's squad, with 15 goals in 63 appearances for his current club highlighting his end product from the middle of the park.
