Manchester United: Victor Osimhen seen as Cristiano Ronaldo replacement

Manchester United: Victor Osimhen seen as Cristiano Ronaldo replacement - Manchester United News

In-form Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is seen as a top target for Manchester United after Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit, journalist Florian Plettenberg has claimed.

The Lowdown: Osimhen on fire for Napoli

The Nigerian is having a season to treasure for Napoli so far, inspiring them to a comfortable lead at the top of Serie A with some influential performances.

Osimhen has scored nine goals in just 11 league appearances to date in 2022/23, not to mention also netting once in the Champions League.

The 23-year-old is one of the hottest young properties in Europe at the moment, and with United looking for fresh firepower, they could be ready to pounce.

The Latest: United could make move

Taking to Twitter, Sky Sport‘s reliable Plettenberg stated that Osimhen is a primary target for the Red Devils after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure:

“#Osimhen: The 23 y/o striker is one of the top candidates to replace Ronaldo. Bosses convinced that he could improve #MUFC! Problem: Napoli doesn’t want to let him go in winter. Regardless of the money. United don’t want to pay €100m! No negotiations yet.”

The Verdict: Outstanding potential signing

Osimhen is a monstrous figure who has been hailed as ‘phenomenal’ by former Cagliari coach Walter Mazzarri, and he could be the perfect attacking addition for United, coming in as a high-profile acquisition.

Premier League - Manchester United v Everton

Manchester United fans, do you remember who scored your first goal of the 21/22 season?

Built in a similar mould to the likes of Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez, the Napoli star is a brute of a figure who possesses speed, power and relentless end product.

Osimhen has the ability to be the next great striker at United, although they could find it tough to snap him up in January, considering Napoli look favourites to win the Serie A.
