Manchester United are reportedly the first club to prepare an official offer for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani.

The Lowdown: Striker rumours

A new forward is thought to be one of Erik ten Hag’s main transfer priorities this summer alongside a new midfielder, with a number of marquee attacking names linked in recent months.

There has been speculation over moves for Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos. Contact has reportedly been made with Kane’s representatives, whereas United are thought to be ‘all in’ for Osimhen and in advanced talks with Ramos.

The transfer rumours are going into overdrive ahead of the summer, with Kolo Muani another to have been linked with a move to Old Trafford. There has been a new update on the Eintracht Frankfurt star, where it looks as if a transfer could be gathering pace.

The Latest: Kolo Muani update

Sports Witness relayed an update from Bild regarding United and Kolo Muani on Wednesday. They claimed that the Red Devils are the ‘first top club to prepare an official mega offer’ for the France international and want to make a proposal of €120m (£105m) for Kolo Muani.

The report adds that Eintracht Frankfurt ‘would let the striker go’ for over €100m (£88m) in the summer, with Paris Saint-Germain also thought to be interested in the player.

The Verdict: Possible record fee

A €120m proposal would make Kolo Muani the most expensive Manchester United signing of all time, eclipsing a €105m move for Paul Pogba back in 2016. Whether or not the forward is worth that amount is another argument, but his rise over the last few years has been extremely impressive.

The 24-year-old is primarily a centre-forward who can play on either wing and has seen his Transfermarkt valuation rise from €5m to a career-high €37m in less than two years. He joined Frankfurt for free last summer after leaving French side Nantes and has contributed to 30 goals in 34 games during the current campaign.

Kolo Muani, hailed as 'special' by sections of the media, was also included in France’s squad for the World Cup last year, scoring in the semi-final and registering an assist for Kylian Mbappe in the final.

Therefore, you can see why the Red Devils would be interested in bringing the player to Old Trafford, but a club-record fee could be a gamble, making this one to keep an eye on.
