Manchester United have been in secret talks over a possible move for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele.

The Lowdown: Ronaldo to leave?

Erik ten Hag has a tough job on his hands at Old Trafford, and that could be made even harder if the club were to lose star man Cristiano Ronaldo.

Recent reports have suggested that the United legend has asked to leave this summer, with the 37-year-old having his concerns that the club won’t be able to compete for the biggest trophies.

Should Ronaldo leave, then you’d expect that a new striker would be a priority, and it appears as if that man could well be Dembele.

The Latest: Dembele update

Sport Witness relayed an update from French outlet Media Foot regarding Dembele and United on Monday.

They claimed that, ‘in secret’, the Red Devils have been ‘moving to relaunch contacts’ for the French forward.

The Verdict: Why not?

Dembele has scored 'unstoppable' by Barry Ferguson during his time at Celtic.

He has just come off his best league season in front of goal with 30 games. Still just 25 years of age, you’d like to think that the France international still has plenty of years left at the highest level, so a move for him could be a shrewd one by United.

The striker is also into his last 12 months of his Lyon contract, which could mean that he may be available for a fee in or around his £18m Transfermarkt valuation, making a potential move certainly worth a punt.
