Manchester United's move for Bologna forward Marko Arnautovic is now off, according to Sky Sports.

The Lowdown: Arnautovic personal terms

The Red Devils missed out on signing Benjamin Sesko, with the towering forward agreeing on Tuesday to join RB Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg in 2023.

Arnautovic, who was labelled a 'fantastic talent' by Manuel Veth, appeared to be United’s new attacking target, with journalist Tancredi Palmeri revealing on Tuesday morning that 'personal terms' had been agreed.

It looks as if there has been a quick twist regarding the Austrian, though, with news breaking of a U-turn just a few hours on from Palmeri's post.

The Latest: Move off

Sky Sports provided 'another breaking story' from Old Trafford after they covered the news on Sesko, this time regarding Arnautovic.

They revealed that United will not be pursuing the forward and will move on to alternative targets after refusing to meet Bologna's demands.

The Verdict: Makes sense

Erik ten Hag is thought to be overseeing a rebuild at Old Trafford, so a move for Arnautovic would have felt like something that United fans have seen before.

The club have brought in ageing strikers in the past, such as Radamel Falcao, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Odion Ighalo and Edinson Cavani.

Cristiano Ronaldo was also 36 when he returned to the club last year, so Arnautovic (33) would have become the latest experienced forward to sign terms at Old Trafford.

However, it looks as if that won't happen now, which should bring a smile to many, including the likes of Samuel Luckhurst and Gary Neville, who couldn't believe the initial rumours linking United with the former West Ham maverick.
