Manchester United have made securing a new contract for Marcus Rashford a ‘priority’, according to journalist Dan Sheldon.

The Lowdown: PSG’s public interest

The Red Devils striker has now entered the final 18 months of his deal at Old Trafford, and having not yet put pen to paper on fresh terms, his future has been up in the air.

The England international has been attracting attention from Paris Saint-Germain whose president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has publicly admitted that they would be interested in signing him this summer.

Erik ten Hag, however, has urged the 25-year-old to extend his stay in the Premier League where it sounds like the board are willing to work around the clock to make it happen.

The Latest: United’s stance on Rashford

Taking to Twitter, Sheldon claimed that United have made it their mission to get Rashford to commit his long-term services to the club. He wrote:

“A look [at] Manchester United’s squad depth, focusing on midfielders and forwards:

“Rashford deal a priority.

“Key summer for McTominay.

“Garnacho talks.

“Martial uncertainty.”

The Verdict: Keep hold of him

Rashford has become one of United’s most integral players since Ten Hag’s arrival and it’s important that the boss does everything he can to keep hold of his talisman for the foreseeable.

The Nike-sponsored forward has posted an incredible 29 goal contributions in 34 appearances across all competitions this season and provides the manager with plenty of versatility through his ability to operate in four different positions (Transfermarkt).

Rashford has been described as a player who’s ‘on fire’ by talent scout Jacek Kulig which is evident in his five league man-of-the-match awards, so even the thought of losing him at the end of the season will be a huge blow.
