Manchester United correspondent Samuel Luckhurst has dropped a worrying update on Paul Pogba ahead of the trip to Leeds United tomorrow afternoon.

The Lowdown: Pogba's contract situation

Described as a ‘very important’ player by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Frenchman has just a few months remaining on his Old Trafford deal.

He has recently returned from a long period out with a hamstring injury and scored his first goal of the season against Burnley.

The midfielder came off the bench in the win over Brighton last time out to set up Bruno Fernandes' late second goal, but off the field, things still are a concern.

The Latest: Luckhurst’s update on Pogba

Luckhurst, chief writer for The Manchester Evening News, provided an update on Pogba in a story on Thursday morning.

He revealed from sources close to the 28-year-old that the midfielder’s contract situation remains the same despite positive talks with Ralf Rangnick.

Luckhurst said that ‘there is still no inclination for the midfielder to commit to United at the 11th hour’, with Pogba into the final four months of his contract.

The Verdict: A worry

Pogba is closer to leaving the club for nothing with each passing day, and knowing the Red Devils are not nearing fresh terms can only be a worry.

He is valued at £49.5m by Transfermarkt, so United could lose out on millions on a player for whom they paid £89m back in 2016 if he walks away on a free transfer over the summer.

Clubs from outside of England can actually secure a pre-contract agreement right now due to his contract situation, but hopefully he will pen new terms at Old Trafford before the end of June, given how productive he can be when on form and free of injury.
