Some fans think a potential sale would be madness due to the lack of attacking options; meanwhile, other fans can’t wait to see the back of the Chile international.

Sanchez has been on the periphery of the Old Trafford side since joining from rivals Arsenal in a swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The Chilean made just [27 appearances in all competitions last season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alexis-sanchez/leistungsdaten/spieler/40433/plus/0?saison=2018), with just 20 in the Premier League, which was less than [Anthony Martial](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/anthony-martial/leistungsdaten/spieler/182877/plus/0?saison=2018), [Jesse Lingard](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdaten/spieler/141660/plus/0?saison=2018) and [Marcus Rashford](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcus-rashford/leistungsdaten/spieler/258923/plus/0?saison=2018).

The [£490,000-a-week](https://www.sportsjoe.ie/football/alexis-sanchez-wages-man-united-171941) man has scored just[five goals and assisted nine in a mass 45 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alexis-sanchez/leistungsdaten/spieler/40433/plus/0?saison=2018) for the Red Devils, which has seen him draw criticism from [fans](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-utd-arsenal-alexis-sanchez-15229712) and [pundits](https://strettynews.com/2019/03/23/i-think-alexis-is-going-somewhere-espn-pundit-gives-damning-assessment-of-sanchez-at-man-utd/) alike.

However, despite the 30-year-old’s bad performances in the north-west, fans couldn’t be more split on whether Sanchez should leave or not.

Here is a selection of tweets from Manchester United fans after Roma’s bid to sign the player:

> Get it done! lol asap free up that huge wage bill and invest it in more players like Harry Maguire n Wan bissaka who are workers on the field n genuinely humble n delighted 2 play for the team the club n the fans and will honour the badge and actually earn their pay packet

> Would be a big mistake. The season is long and we need experience player like him as we have already offloaded Lukaku.
