# Manchester United: Peter Schmeichel’s verdict on Daniel James delights supporters

**Daniel James has been one of Manchester United’s [standout performers](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7565549/Manchester-United-news-Rio-Ferdinand-picks-Daniel-James-best-player-slams-squad-depth.html) this season, marking himself out as one of the signings of the summer and establishing a consistent starting place in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side – with club legend Peter Schmeichel becoming the latest pundit to issue deserved praise.**

James’ finesse on the counter-attack during United’s [2-1 derby win](https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/match-report-man-city-v-man-utd-premier-league-7-december-2019) at the Etihad was one of the reasons they came away from Eastlands victorious – with the Wales international consistently giving left-back Angelino a tough time out wide.

His performance against their bitter rivals in particular has warranted due praise from the former Red Devils shot-stopper, who has claimed that he was ‘unbelievable’ in the encounter and hinted at his importance during United’s second win on the trot against a top six side.

The ex-Denmark international stated, [via United Xtra](https://twitter.com/utdxtra/status/1204037710823997440?s=21): “He (James) was unbelievable, chasing every ball, he was in every counter-attack and, at the same time, he was doubling up with Wan-Bissaka on the right-hand side. He’s played every single game this season and he’s still playing well. Fantastic signing.”

As a result, supporters have been quick to fully agree with the 1999 treble winner – here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
