# Manchester United: Marcus Rashford to be offered new deal

**[Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/) forward Marcus Rashford will be offered a new contract at Old Trafford, according to an update from journalist [Fabrizio Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano).**

### The Lowdown: Rashford back in form

The 25-year-old has looked much more like his old self again this season, having dipped way below those standards for a sustained period.

Rashford has [scored seven times](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/300299/Show/Marcus-Rashford) in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) and Europa League combined in 2022/23 to date, also netting in England’s 6-2 win over Iran at the [2022 World Cup](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/world-cup-2022/) on Monday.

The Englishman’s current United deal [runs out](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcus-rashford/profil/spieler/258923) at the end of this season but it looks as though his stay at the club could be extended.

### The Latest: New deal incoming?

Writing on [*Substack*](https://caughtoffside.substack.com/) \[via [*Caught Offside*](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2022/11/22/man-united-transfer-news-rashford-contract-offer-planned/)\], Romano claimed that the Red Devils would offer Rashford a new contract, with Erik ten Hag considering the forward an ‘important player’.

### The Verdict: Still a big role to play

There was a point when Rashford arguably looked like his long-term future at United was in doubt, but his form this season suggests he still has a key role to play.

While that doesn’t necessarily mean he is a guaranteed starter in Ten Hag’s strong starting lineup, he possesses the pace and end product to be a handy figure in the squad, having been [called](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11414755/Dion-Dublin-praises-Marcus-Rashford-brilliant-man-match-display-Man-United.html) ‘brilliant’ by Dion Dublin.

At 25, he is still a relatively young player, too, so selling him at this point in his career would feel like a risk, considering he still has so many years ahead of him.
