# Manchester United ready to trigger Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot extension options

**[Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/) pair Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot won’t leave the club on free transfers next summer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.**

### The Lowdown: United pair find World Cup form

Both Rashford and Dalot suffered the pain of elimination from the 2022 [World Cup](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/world-cup-2022/) over the weekend, as England and Portugal both departed at the quarter-final stage.

They were both impressive in their own right during the tournament, however, with the former [scoring three goals](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/300299/Show/Marcus-Rashford) and the latter starting [three times](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/353418/Show/Diogo-Dalot) at right-back, jumping above Joao Cancelo in the pecking order.

[Rashford](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcus-rashford/profil/spieler/258923) and [Dalot](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diogo-dalot/profil/spieler/357147) are both out of contract at United next summer and neither have new signed a new deal at the club yet.

### The Latest: Club ready to sign one-year options

Taking to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1601879383589130240?s=20&t=D2SKCNlqQTjqBiYli-Kfjw), Romano confirmed that neither United player will leave on a free transfer. The Red Devils have a one-year extension option on both players and the club are ready to sign on the dotted line:

> “Rashford and Dalot will not leave for free.”

The journalist also [added in a second tweet](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1602247806257074176?s=20&t=0Z6VhffGEgtYDkPMXnEb5g) that “new long term deal(s) will be discussed soon” as “Erik ten Hag wants” to keep the pair well beyond the one-year option in their deals.

### The Verdict: Get it done

Rashford and Dalot simply must be among the players to sign contract extensions in the coming months, with the duo important figures under ten Hag.

At 25 and 23, respectively, they are still relatively young players, with Rashford overcoming a poor spell of form and Dalot really starting to look like a class act at right-back.
