# Manchester United: Victor Osimhen is a ‘priority’ signing

**[Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/) see in-form Napoli striker [Victor Osimhen](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/victor-osimhen/) as a ‘priority’ signing during the summer transfer window, according to a fresh update.**

### The Lowdown: Osimhen on fire for Napoli

The 24-year-old is having the season of his life currently, [scoring 19 times](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/298510/Show/Victor-Osimhen) in Serie A and helping Napoli sit [17 points clear](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/italian-serie-a/table) at the top of the table.

There could be a huge battle for Osimhen’s signature come the end of the season and United have been [linked](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/manchester-united-premier-league-victor-osimhen-transfer-news-updates/) with a move for him numerous times of late.

Now, a new rumour has emerged – one that suggests Old Trafford could be the Nigerian’s destination this summer.

### The Latest: United still keen on signing

According to [*inews*](https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/tammy-abraham-aston-villa-everton-striker-man-utd-victor-osimhen-2182768?ito=twitter_share_article-top), United’s ‘priority’ signing in attack is Osimhen, with [Erik ten Hag](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/erik-ten-hag/) seeing him as the perfect man to come in and make his team even more formidable.

It is stated in the report that they have also been ‘monitoring’ Roma striker Tammy Abraham, but Osimhen is seen as the more important addition.

### The Verdict: Could be a stunning addition

If United manage to snap up the [23-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/victor-osimhen/profil/spieler/401923) Nigeria international this summer, it could prove to be every bit as important as Casemiro, such is his quality.

Osimhen has run riot at times this season, using his pace and strength to devastating effect, with Walter Mazzarri also once [describing](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/napolis-osimhen-is-phenomenal-cagliaris-mazzarri-showers-praise-on-forward/lzeii5kj10211mt87d6u82f9b) him as ‘phenomenal’.

A centre forward is a missing piece of United’s jigsaw currently, with Wout Weghorst doing a job but [not yet scoring](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/115479/Show/Wout-Weghorst) in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/), and the Napoli star could be a huge upgrade on him.

The thought of Osimhen dovetailing with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Antony is a mouth-watering one for United fans and he could turn the team into genuine Premier League and Champions League contenders.
