# Manchester United: Red Devils considering move for Fernando Llorente

**Manchester United are considering a move for former Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente, [according to Gianluca Di Marzio](https://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/manchester-united-considering-llorente-for-the-attack-the-situation).**

The Spanish striker was released from the [north London club](https://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/manchester-united-considering-llorente-for-the-attack-the-situation) following the expiration of his contract last season.

Due to [Llorente](https://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/manchester-united-considering-llorente-for-the-attack-the-situation) being a free agent, a deal for the Spaniard can be completed past the transfer deadline set tomorrow for 5pm.

[According to the Italian](https://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/manchester-united-considering-llorente-for-the-attack-the-situation), due to the situation surrounding Llorente, Juventus and Internazionale have been given hope that a deal for Romelu Lukaku can be done.

Links with Llorente follow on from a summer of speculation surrounding Lukaku, with the Belgian being linked with a move to Juventus and Inter. [Juventus](https://www.90min.com/posts/6422576-man-utd-and-juventus-agree-swap-deal-in-principle-involving-paulo-dybala-and-romelu-lukaku) had a swap deal agreed for the 26-year-old before it collapsed; meanwhile, Inter are said to have had a [£54m](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49056823) bid rejected for the striker.

Llorente endured a torrid time in north London after joining from [Swansea City](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/11013439/fernando-llorente-joins-tottenham-from-swansea) in the summer of 2017. The Spaniard made [52 appearances](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/13361/History/Fernando-Llorente) in the two seasons at Spurs, scoring a mere [five goals](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/13361/History/Fernando-Llorente) in all competitions.

While Lukaku could still leave the club, Llorente would be a horrible striker for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to sign this summer, as he goes against the former Manchester United star’s style of play

In Manchester United’s[1-0 win away to Spurs](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46859254), the Norwegian manager opted for a front three of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard. The ploy worked as the Old Trafford giants peppered Tottenham with constant counter-attacks after allowing [Ben Davies and Kieran Trippier](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46859254) to press forward. With Llorente, this would not be possible due to a lack of pace, a deficiency of his highlighted by [Football Whispers](https://www.footballwhispers.com/blog/llorente-better-fit-tottenham-chelsea) back in 2017.

Llorente would be a bad signing for Manchester United, and the club could do better if they are to sign a replacement for the potentially outgoing Lukaku.
