# Manchester United: Red Devils fans rave over Odion Ighalo following club tweet

**Odion Ighalo has turned out to be one of the bargains of the January transfer window, prompting [Manchester United to celebrate his performances this month](https://twitter.com/ManUtd/status/1240753160810950656).**

Since moving to Old Trafford from Shanghai Shenhua earlier this year on a short-term loan contract until the end of the season, Ighalo has already netted 4 goals in 8 appearances in all competitions for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, including a brace against Derby County in the FA Cup at the beginning of March ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odion-ighalo/profil/spieler/62121)).

The Nigerian striker, who is valued at just £5.85m by [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odion-ighalo/profil/spieler/62121), was initially signed to [provide injury cover](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51335993) for Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. Ighalo has more than stepped up to the plate, averaging 2.7 shots per game, playing 2 key passes, and successfully completing 1.7 dribbles on average in the Europa League ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/31376/Show/Odion-Ighalo)).

In comparison, Martial takes 1.8 shots on average, averages 0.3 key passes per game, and completes roughly 1.5 dribbles in the European competition this season ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/122366/Show/Anthony-Martial)).

All things considered, the 30-year-old has quickly adapted to life in Manchester, and [Solskjaer has hinted](https://metro.co.uk/2020/03/13/ole-gunnar-solskjaer-drops-manchester-united-transfer-hint-odion-ighalo-12395514/) he is keen to keep a hold of the Nigerian in the summer.

Naturally many Red Devils have been raving about Ighalo’s impressive start to his career at Old Trafford, with one supporter remarking he is a “beautiful player.” Another simply added “what a find.”
