# Manchester United: Red Devils fans urge board to sign Thomas Partey after latest display against Liverpool

**Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey demonstrated once again why he is considered to be one of the best players in the world [with a brilliant performance against Liverpool in the Champions League](https://www.goal.com/en/news/partey-midfield-brilliance-sees-atletico-madrid-edge-past/1qdq5366nkudq1qmob8ghf295q).**

Partey has long been linked with a move to the Premier League over the years with Arsenal the latest club to express their interest in the defensive midfielder, according to [Libertad Digital](https://www.libertaddigital.com/deportes/futbol/2020-02-24/el-arsenal-quiere-pagar-la-clausula-de-thomas-y-evitar-la-renovacion-con-el-atletico-1276652851/amp.html?__twitter_impression=true).

The Ghana international played a key role as Los Rojiblancos claimed a stunning 3-2 victory at Merseyside in the second leg, dumping the titleholders out of the competition.

Partey put in a defensive shift as he completed 2 out of 3 dribble attempts, won 8 out of 12 ground duels, and took 69 touches, as well as making 4 clearances, 4 interceptions and blocking 2 crucial shots. He played the full 120′ minutes after the game went to extra time, earning himself a solid rating of 7.4 ([SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/thomas-partey/316148)).

The 26-year-old has made 24 appearances in and scored 2 goals in La Liga this season. Partey’s current market value rests at £45m via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/thomas/profil/spieler/230784).

Unsurprisingly loads of Manchester United fans have urged the club to sign the Ghanaian with one supporter noting he could be the “perfect Nemanja Matic replacement.” [Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently announced](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/11123037/nemanja-matic-man-utd-new-contract/) the Serbian veteran has signed a contract extension but he is now 31 and has only featured in 12 Premier League games so far ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nemanja-matic/profil/spieler/74683)).

Another fan simply added Partey is an “absolute beast.”

> 2 players I’ve said [@ManUtd](https://twitter.com/ManUtd?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) should buy. I’ve been saying we should have bought Oblak ever since De Gea wanted to go to Madrid. He’s a much better keeper. One of the best if not the best on his day. Partey is one of the top 5 best CDM’s in the world. Priority signing.
