[Milinkovic-Savic](https://metro.co.uk/2019/08/06/manchester-united-talks-sign-sergej-milinkovic-savic-transfer-deadline-10524852/) is being targeted with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer facing a fight to keep Paul Pogba, who has made it clear he wants to leave the club with Real Madrid and Juventus interested.

[According to Marca](https://www.marca.com/futbol/real-madrid/2019/08/06/5d48857746163fd76b8b459c.html), Real Madrid will approach the Old Trafford giants before Thursday’s deadline in an attempt to sign Pogba for less than the £150m asking price.

[Lazio president Claudio Lotito](https://metro.co.uk/2019/08/06/manchester-united-talks-sign-sergej-milinkovic-savic-transfer-deadline-10524852/) has confirmed that the Serie A club are open to selling the Serbia international Milinkovic-Savic this summer.

Links with the Serbian follow on from a summer of uncertainty surrounding Pogba’s future. Back in the middle of June, [the France international](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/jun/16/paul-pogba-manchester-united-new-challenge-good-time-transfer-real-madrid-juventus) revealed that he wanted a ‘new challenge’.

The admission came off the back of a season of strained relationship between the Old Trafford faithful and Pogba last campaign, with the Frenchman a target of verbal abuse from fans following the [2-0 loss to Cardiff.](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1126253/Paul-Pogba-heated-argument-Man-Utd-fans-Cardiff-City-Premier-League-Solskjaer)

For the price being touted for his services, a move for[Milinkovic-Savic](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1158589/Man-Utd-Sergej-Milinkovic-Savic-transfer-news-Lazio-90m-asking-price-gossip-MUFC-latest) would be very underwhelming, especially if it meant Pogba would leave the club.

Last season, [Pogba](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/97752/History/Paul-Pogba) trumped the [Serbian](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/288767/Show/Sergej-Milinkovic-Savic) in every offensive category, including shots, key passes, dribbles and fouls won per game (via WhoScored). His attacking quality was key for the club as he scored the [most goals and contributed the most assists](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/top-scorers) at the club. To let him go for someone who cannot fill the void would be a bad decision.

As well as his contributions, you can’t overlook Pogba’s experiences for both club and country. The 26-year-old has won multiple trophies at both [Juventus and Manchester United](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-pogba/erfolge/spieler/122153), as well as lifting the World Cup with [France in 2018.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44754965)

Pogba has far too much quality and experience to be sold, especially if his replacement is not good enough. Any potential replacement needs to be able to carry the north-west club, and Milinkovic-Savic’s statistics have shown he could struggle to do that.
