# Manchester United: Red Devils keen on Luka Jovic

**Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on Real Madrid forward Luka Jovic, that is according to [Bleacher Report](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2860119-despite-goal-drought-luka-jovic-will-get-lifeline-to-save-real-madrid-career).**

The Red Devils only have two senior recognised [strikers](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-united/kadernachposition/verein/985) at the moment following the summer sale of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan, so could do with reinforcements up top to ensure they have the best possible chance of obtaining a top-four finish this term.

Both Marcus Rashford and the returning Anthony Martial have looked sharp in recent outings, with the latter [scoring](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/anthony-martial/leistungsdaten/spieler/182877) on his first game back from injury at the weekend against Norwich City, and the former [scoring twice](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcus-rashford/leistungsdaten/spieler/258923) in the Carabao Cup last night as United beat Chelsea 2-1 to reach the quarter-finals of the competition.

However, cover is needed, and Los Blancos forward Luka Jovic is being lined up as a potential new arrival. The Serbian marksman joined Real Madrid for [€65m](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2860119-despite-goal-drought-luka-jovic-will-get-lifeline-to-save-real-madrid-career) (£56m) in the summer but has found it difficult to settle into his new surroundings in the Spanish capital, scoring only once in his opening 10 appearances for the club – that goal coming in last night’s 5-0 win over Leganes (via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luka-jovic/leistungsdaten/spieler/257462)).

An approach for Jovic would follow reported links between United and Madrid teammate Gareth Bale, with Spanish outlet El Desmarque (via [Manchester Evening News](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/man-utd-transfer-news-rumours-17148272)) suggesting in the past week that a possible swap deal with Paul Pogba could be in the pipeline.

[Bleacher Report](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2860119-despite-goal-drought-luka-jovic-will-get-lifeline-to-save-real-madrid-career) claims that both United and Bayern Munich are being kept up-to-date with the Jovic’s progress by Madrid, with the duo also being notified first about the possibility of a short-term loan move for the player in January until the end of the campaign.

Jovic has started slowly in Spain but hasn’t had a clear run in the side due to the goalscoring form of first-choice striker Karim Benzema, who has notched [seven times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/karim-benzema/profil/spieler/18922) in 10 La Liga appearances so far this season.

Therefore, a temporary switch away from the club in January could be a viable option for the young forward, so that he can gain valuable game-time playing for a club who are in dire need of some more attacking threat.
