# Manchester United: Red Devils receive major Jadon Sancho boost as news emerges

**Manchester United have received a major boost in the race to sign Jadon Sancho in the summer, according to [The Daily Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1295821/Jadon-Sancho-Sets-Heart-On-Man-Utd-Transfer-Borussia-Dortmund-Told-Of-Premier-League-Wish).**

Football writer [James Benson](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1295821/Jadon-Sancho-Sets-Heart-On-Man-Utd-Transfer-Borussia-Dortmund-Told-Of-Premier-League-Wish) revealed Sancho has told Borussia Dortmund he wants to leave the club and return to England.

Last week, [ESPN](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/4108421/chelseaman-united-making-transfer-moves-to-challenge-liverpoolman-city-for-premier-league-title) claimed that the Red Devils are the clear front-runners to sign the Dortmund star.

The Englishman has emerged as one of [Europe’s hottest talents](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1295821/Jadon-Sancho-Sets-Heart-On-Man-Utd-Transfer-Borussia-Dortmund-Told-Of-Premier-League-Wish) after establishing himself as a key player at the Signal Iduna Park.

It has been reported that [Old Trafford](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1295821/Jadon-Sancho-Sets-Heart-On-Man-Utd-Transfer-Borussia-Dortmund-Told-Of-Premier-League-Wish) is his preferred destination, as Marcus Rashford is keen to reunite with his international teammate.

United had faced competition from Premier League rivals [Chelsea](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1295821/Jadon-Sancho-Sets-Heart-On-Man-Utd-Transfer-Borussia-Dortmund-Told-Of-Premier-League-Wish), but Frank Lampard has now turned his attention to Bayer Leverkusen ace Kai Havertz instead.

[\[freshpress-poll id=”304484″\]](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/[freshpress-poll%20id=%22304484%22])

Despite the fact he only cost Dortmund a mere £8m in a move from [Manchester City](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1295821/Jadon-Sancho-Sets-Heart-On-Man-Utd-Transfer-Borussia-Dortmund-Told-Of-Premier-League-Wish), Ed Woodward will have to part ways with at least £89m in order to prise Sancho away from the Yellow and Blacks.

The 20-year-old, who is [the club’s top scorer](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/borussia-dortmund/top-scorers) this season, has bagged 17 goals and 16 assists in [the Bundesliga](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/346300/Show/Jadon-Sancho) at the time of writing.

This news will no doubt delight Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as the Norwegian made it clear Sancho is at the top of his shortlist after he [missed out](https://www.goal.com/en/news/man-utds-struggle-to-sign-100m-sancho-in-2020/fpzj46b2sx8e1vk7mzm8kkx09) on signing the England international last year.

United have been interested in Sancho for a very long time, stemming all the way back to [Jose Mourinho’s](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/man-united-transfer-sancho-news-18122759?_ga=2.12741815.1849571315.1587367040-1272744344.1573971676) infamous time in charge at the Theatre of Dreams.

The Red Devils were in the middle of working on a squad overhaul before the nationwide lockdown was imposed due to the pandemic ([ESPN](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/4108421/chelseaman-united-making-transfer-moves-to-challenge-liverpoolman-city-for-premier-league-title)).

It seems Solskjaer has remained deadfast as he is determined to get his man before the start of next season and he now looks set to beat all competition for [his signature](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1295821/Jadon-Sancho-Sets-Heart-On-Man-Utd-Transfer-Borussia-Dortmund-Told-Of-Premier-League-Wish).
