# Manchester United: Red Devils still keen on Youri Tielemans move

**Manchester United are still pursuing a move for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, according to an update from journalist Ben Jacobs.**

### The Lowdown: Tielemans impresses for Leicester

The Foxes have had a season to forget under Brendan Rodgers, failing to build on last season’s FA Cup triumph – in which the Belgian scored the winner – and falling well short of challenging for Champions League football.

While Tielemans hasn’t necessarily enjoyed his best year for Leicester, he has still continued to be a key figure, [scoring six goals](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/136345/Show/Youri-Tielemans) in 21 Premier League starts and averaging [1.3 key passes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/136345/Show/Youri-Tielemans) per game.

The 24-year-old has been [linked](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1589316/Manchester-United-transfer-news-Youri-Tielemans-Leicester-Soyuncu-latest-update) with a move to United numerous times in recent months and now a new update has emerged.

### The Latest: United in the race

Taking to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/JacobsBen/status/1512408831665614848?s=20&t=4ywBzg5NemjlVecqQrthNw), Jacobs claimed the Red Devils are still tracking Tielemans, who is available for £25million, but they are not alone in expressing an interest, with Arsenal seen as their main competition:

> “Manchester United and Arsenal continue to pursue Youri Tielemans. 25m is a bargain price.”

### The Verdict: Ideal summer addition?

Midfield is an area of the pitch where United lack genuine guile, with the likes of [Fred](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/114397/Show/Fred) and [Scott McTominay](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/336915/Show/Scott-McTominay) hard-working but technically limited players, registering just five assists between them in the league this season.

With Paul Pogba [out of contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-pogba/profil/spieler/122153) this summer and likely to move on, Tielemans could be an ideal replacement, coming in as a younger alternative who could add more creativity and energy in the middle of the park.

He has been [described](https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/leicester-city-transfers-tielemans-liverpool-5551681) as ‘fantastic’ by Emile Heskey in the past and [46 goal contributions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/alletore/spieler/249565) in 146 Leicester appearances (24 goals and 22 assists) suggests he could take United up a gear in midfield.
