Manchester United are thought to be interested in Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, according to The Daily Mail.Â

Lavia left Manchester City for Southampton over the summer and has enjoyed a breakthrough season at St Mary’s. The 19-year-old can play as a holding midfielder or as a centre-back and has made 15 Premier League appearances during the current campaign.
Lavia shares the same agency as Jadon Sancho and has seen his Transfermarkt valuation rocket from €2m to €25m as a result of his performances, and it looks as if they have caught the eye at Old Trafford.

They said that the Red Devils have joined the list of clubs interested in the Belgian, with Southampton facing a battle to hold onto Lavia beyond this season.

Lavia has made a real impression in his debut season in the top flight, catching the eye of Paul Scholes back in August, with the United legend admitting he was surprised Manchester City decided to let him go.
He has been labelled as ‘impressive’ by members of the media and recently shone at Stamford Bridge in a 1-0 win against Chelsea, so appears to be a star in the making.
Therefore, it could be a wise move for United to explore a deal further over the coming months, especially with Southampton in real danger of slipping down into the Championship.
