Rooney, who recently became England’s highest goal-scorer of all-time, admitted falling out with long-serving United boss Ferguson but denied a transfer request was made.

[His comments come via the](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34389171)*[BBC,](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34389171)* who are set to air a documentary on the United and England captain on Monday 5th October; called Rooney – The Man Behind The Goals.

Rooney [admitted he raised the option of an exit](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34389171) from Old Trafford to Ferguson but never handed in a formal transfer request, despite the Scotsman’s later public claims.

All was forgiven though as 48 hours later Rooney signed a new five-year deal and United went on to win another Premier League title that season.

Things could have been a lot different though had Rooney sealed the move but he’s remained loyal to United, starring for both of Ferguson’s predecessors.

**Manchester United fans, what would have happened if Rooney did leave in 2013? Let us know how you’d have coped in the comments below!**
