# Manchester United: These supporters demand midfield additions in January

**Following Peter Crouch’s [comments to the BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50887954) over Manchester United needing to strengthen in midfield and attack this January, some supporters have flocked to social media to back up the pundit’s verdict – demanding manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scour the market for fresh talent.**

Paul Pogba’s reintroduction to the team during their Sunday loss to Premier League bottom side Watford appeared to [inject much-needed creativity](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7819375/Paul-Pogbas-cameo-shows-Manchester-United-need-creative-spark-rescue-dismal-season.html) at the heart of the pitch, something they’ve had to do without, even while the partnership of Fred and Scott McTominay [has its benefits](https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/solskjaer-praises-midfield-duo-of-mctominay-and-fred).

Speaking after United’s defeat at Vicarage Road, Crouch also believes they should [build the team](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50887954) around Pogba’s ingenuity – and failing that, search the transfer window for some creative midfielders who could do the job.

The Red Devils have long been linked with an attacking midfielder, including European stars [Bruno Fernandes](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/man-utd-handed-huge-bruno-20908408) and [Kai Havertz](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/man-utd-the-no-1-pick-as-e100m-bundesliga-star-makes-firm-future-decision), but it remains to be seen whether these rumours actually come to fruition.

Here’s how supporters demanded midfield upgrades on social media in response to the ex-England international.

> Fred, pereira & mct are squad players. Need some proper quality in their along side pogba

> But Ole says he is happy with midfield….and if he isn’t then he is team Woodward and taking us for a ride. Wolly the puppet

> It’s funny how we said this before the season started but these pundits said nothing, now that it’s happening it’s ‘obvious’, maybe fans should replace these fraud pundits
