# Manchester United: Tony Cascarino urges club to add ‘established’ centre forward to their attack

**TalkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino has tipped Manchester United to make a more established addition to their forward line – citing Wolves’ Raul Jimenez as a perfect example.**

United have won [five out of their last six games](https://uk.soccerway.com/teams/england/manchester-united-fc/662/matches/) following their victory over Brighton and Hove Albion earlier today – but Cascarino feels the United frontline is too pace-heavy.

Cascarino made the case for bringing in Jimenez after suggesting that Anthony Martial – who started [up top](https://www.skysports.com/football/man-utd-vs-brighton/teams/408095) against the Seagulls – is more of a wide player.

Speaking on [TalkSPORT](https://twitter.com/talkSPORT/status/1193513303684857857), Cascarino feels that an established striker is exactly what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad needs.

He said: “With Mason Greenwood coming in, and having Martial, and having Rashford, and having Daniel James, he’s got a lot of pace in his forward line.

“I think it’s paramount he goes and buys a proper centre forward. I do think they need an established centre forward in there.

“Martial – he’s playing centre forward, but I just don’t feel he’s a natural centre forward. He doesn’t lead the line or hold up play. He’s dangerous because he’s quick and he finds little opportunities, but I don’t see a centre forward, there – I see a wide player.

“I think a proper centre forward would really change their forward line.

“I look at Jimenez. I think Jimenez is a really gifted centre forward. He leads the line a bit like \[Roberto\] Firmino, he’s a technically very gifted player, he’s a threat in the air, he gets on with pace around him, and United have that.”

You can see the logic from Cascarino – with United only just starting to click into gear on the goalscoring front this season – scoring more than once for the [fourth time in five games](https://uk.soccerway.com/teams/england/manchester-united-fc/662/matches/) on Sunday having been unable to do so between the opening day and late October.

Having let go the likes of [Romelu Lukaku](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49146040) in the summer, it could be argued that the team do not possess an out-and-out centre forward – with [Marcus Rashford](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcus-rashford/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/258923/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=11&trainer_id=) and [Martial](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/anthony-martial/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/182877/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=11&trainer_id=) often pushed out to the wing in recent seasons.

Martial is the oldest of the striking quartet that Cascarino mentions, but at just 23, it is clear that there is a lack of experience up front for the Red Devils.

That’s not to suggest someone like 28-year-old Jimenez would suit the club because of his age alone, but with the Mexican [outscoring](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raul-jimenez/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/206040/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) United’s forwards both [last season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-united/leistungsdaten/verein/985/reldata/%262018/plus/1) and so far [this year](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/top-scorers)), he may yet be a viable solution should Solskjaer and Cascarino be thinking along the same lines.
