Man United leading race for £30m Premier League striker

Man United are currently leading the race to sign Ipswich striker Liam Delap according to Sky Sports. Delap has impressed in his debut Premier League season, scoring 12 goals despite his side’s relegation.
This relegation has activated the player’s £30m release clause, adding even more appeal to clubs vying for his signature. The 22 year is has put himself firmly in the shop window this summer with Newcastle, Chelsea, and Everton all known to be interested as well.
Sky Sports reported that Delap would be interested in a move to Old Trafford, but could potentially be swayed by the result of the Europa League final. Delap is said to fancy Champions League football next season, and will consider his options this summer with that firmly in the forefront.
Newcastle and Chelsea will also be in the mix for that reason, as both clubs find themselves vying for Champions League spots. However Man United is understood to be his preference at this point.
United keen to add Delap to forward line
Delap is also said to fancy a stay in the Premier League, amidst interest from European clubs as well, and is expected to be one of many departures from Ipswich Town this summer. He is in fact expected to be one of the Premier League’s first transfers of the summer entirely.
His release clause makes the deal relatively simple to complete from a club agreement standpoint, while his desired wage package would not be a problem for Premier League clubs. Transfer Tavern reported that the player’s relegation clause put many Premier League clubs on alert, and the expectation is that Delap will look to sort out his future in time to enjoy a full pre season.
Should United win the race, Delap could be a part of an entirely new look forward line at Old Trafford. United also remain interested in signing Wolves ace Matheus Cunha, and reportedly lead the race for his signature as well.
News of United’s intention to trigger Cunha’s £64m release clause surfaced earlier in the season after the player announce his desire to leave the club this summer. United could look to complete a double swoop as they try to rebuild after what has been a difficult campaign.
