There have been a couple of midfielders linked lately to Manchester United including Donny van de Beek and Thiago Alcantara, which may have given rise to speculation about current occupants of that position at Old Trafford potentially leaving.
However, the Istanbul outfit are not willing to give up on the Brazilian yet and their improved loan bid will reportedly include a loan fee of around €2m (£1.8m).
His statistics last season were generally impressive as he managed on average 1.4 shots, 2.1 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 1.4 successful dribbles per game, via WhoScored, which highlights that he was a valuable presence in both a defensive and attacking sense for United.
Fred is a well-rounded player to have in the squad, and with the club in three domestic competitions next season as well as the Champions League, squad depth could prove to be crucial, so it might be useful for Solskjaer to keep hold of him for the condensed 2020/21 campaign.
The 27-year-old definitely has more to give at the club, especially when midfielders who play in a similar position like Nemanja Matic are nearing the end of their career. The Serbian is 32, so players like Fred seem to have more to offer in the long run at Old Trafford.
All-in-all, it would be good if United could keep Fred as he provides valuable squad depth and is often reliable when called upon.
