There has been a lot of transfer speculation over Jack Grealish possibly going to Manchester United, and there is an update on this possible transfer as there is only one way that Aston Villa will let the midfielder depart.
According to The Daily Star, Villa want to strengthen their defensive options in the same deal that could see captain Jack Grealish head to United in a £75m transfer.
The Villans would like to see Sergio Romero and full-back Diogo Dalot as new recruits this summer in a player-plus-cash deal.
The Argentina international has been a great backup goalkeeper for the Red Devils and has made his fair share of appearances as David De Gea’s understudy. He has played in 61 games for United, conceding only 27 goals and keeping 39 clean sheets, per Transfermarkt. However, with Dean Henderson back, Romero could drop further down the pecking order, so is not needed desperately at United.
Meanwhile Dalot, who is 21, per Transfermarkt, is valued at £10.8 million and has made 34 appearances for Manchester United, picking up a goal and three assists along the way, but only featured in the Premier League four times last season.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are also ahead of Dalot in the pecking order so United could be making a deal much cheaper for themselves by offering two stars who aren’t really needed at the club.
There is no doubting Grealish’s quality as he managed eight goals and six assists in the Premier League last season, and he would definitely add some great squad depth to the United squad, so it seems like a no-brainer for the Red Devils to involve Romero and Dalot in a deal for the player.
