Manchester United will always get linked to big stars in the transfer window, and the latest reports suggest that the club are interested in a Bayern Munich defender.
According to Sky Sports, United are very keen on trying to sign David Alaba, but they will face stiff competition from fellow Premier League outfit Chelsea.
Manchester City had also maintained an interest, but they were hoping that he could have been involved in a swap deal when they let Leroy Sane go to the Bundesliga side.
Alaba is a very good defender and this is why he is valued at £58.5 million on Transfermarkt. He is still only 28, but the Austrian has already managed 465 appearances throughout his career, with 384 of these coming in the Bayern Munich first team, per Transfermarkt. He has also managed to score 41 goals and pick up 60 assists which is a very good record for a defender.
The left-back has also shown his versatility as he has played at centre-back for the Bundesliga champions across the 2019/20 season, but he would definitely be a great addition for the Red Devils if they could pick him up. Not only would he be able to slot in ahead of either injury prone Luke Shaw or Brandon Williams, who is naturally a right-back playing out of position, but he has also won 22 trophies, including the Champions League, so would bring a wealth of experience to the Manchester United squad.
The signing would be a real statement of intent, but it would definitely be very hard to try and acquire Alaba from such a strong team in Bayern Munich.
