With the 2019/20 season finally over for Manchester United, the club can now look at what players they can bring in for the next campaign. It is a big year for them as well as they are back in the Champions League so fans will be looking for some big players to be added. This has seen them linked with a Barcelona star.
According to Mundo Deportivo, via The Daily Mail, the Premier League side are planning a move for midfielder Arturo Vidal. They have yet to make contact over the player, but supporters will know him well as he has been linked in the past, (2014).
The main worry about this possible signing is the fact that Vidal is 33, and that is one year-older than current central defensive midfielder Nemanja Matić. This would be the only real player you see the Chilean replacing as Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes are the other two midfielders.
Defensively, the Serbian ranks much better as he has on average more tackles, 2.2, interceptions, 1.3, and clearances, 1.2, per game than Vidal, 1.9, 0.5 and 0.4, via WhoScored.
However the La Liga player could be seen as a decent substitute if United want a creative player to come off the bench as he did manage eight goals and two assists in La Liga this season, per WhoScored. He has also won 20 trophies across his career and to have an experienced player like this with such a winning mentality could be good to have.
If Man United can get the player on a cheap deal, then he could be a good squad player to have, but they should be focusing on other players who can come into the starting eleven and make them even stronger, especially considering that Vidal was one of the key players in Barcelona’s 8-2 thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich recently.
