Boca Juniors are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United’s Marcos Rojo on a permanent deal this summer.
According to a report from ESPN, the defender has attracted attention from the Argentinian outfit and they could be looking to add him to their squad ahead of next season.
Rojo is said to be valued at about £15million, which would be a nice addition to United’s funds for this upcoming window, with the club linked to many big money names.
Should Man United keep or sell Marcos Rojo?
The Argentina international is currently on loan with Estudiantes but has struggled for game time since arriving in January. Rojo has made just one Superliga appearance this whole campaign, and played just nine games across other competitions (via Transfermarkt).
The 30-year-old fell down the pecking order at United after they made the world record £80m swoop for Harry Maguire last summer (via BBC Sport). Since the England international’s arrival from Leicester, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has favoured Victor Lindelof as his partner, which could be the norm moving forward.
If this is the case, Rojo must settle for being a back-up role, or look elsewhere in order to secure regular game time.
Unless the Argentinian is going to be guaranteed some minutes, it looks like his best bet will be to move elsewhere this summer. A transfer to Boca Juniors in his home country could be an ideal scenario for the centre-back.
If the Argentine side can meet his value of around £15m, both parties will benefit. Rojo will likely be made a focal point in the club’s defence, and the Red Devils can bank some extra funds towards any lavish spending they have planned.
