Dominic Booth reports the club’s recruitment team are monitoring a list of potential targets in the event they cannot sign Sancho in the summer.
Argentine winger Thiago Almada and Welsh youngsters David Brooks and Rabbi Matondo are at the top of the shortlist, and the Red Devils are considering other right-wing options.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made it clear he wants to strengthen the right flank in the transfer market.
Tuttomercatoweb claimed last month that Ed Woodward has made contact with Velez Sarsfield to reach an agreement for Almada.
The 19-year-old has attracted attention from a number of European clubs, including the likes of Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Manchester City (TEAMtalk). Indeed, the starlet has played 12 games in the Superliga for Mauricio Pellegrino’s side, scoring 4 goals, taking 1.2 shots per game, averaging 1.3 key passes and completing 1.7 dribbles on average (WhoScored).
Although Sancho remains a top priority, the board are unwilling to take any chances, and are drafting up a raft of possible alternatives if negotiations with Borussia Dortmund fail to progress.
A failure to sign the England international would surely be a bitter blow for Solskjaer, as he has been tipped to move to Old Trafford in recent months (Daily Mail). It is worth remembering the Norwegian missed out on Erling Braut Haaland last year.
Unsurprisingly, loads of United fans are dismayed by the club’s transfer stance with regards to potentially not getting Sancho, with one concerned supporter branding the decision “rubbish,” and another lamenting “here we go again.”

We don’t want alternatives. That’s what brought is where we are now…alternatves!!! Sign Sancho or sign nobody

Either sign players who are out of your range or players who are unproved at the highest level, this is why United are such a mess.

Will state this again, going for someone who is nowhere near as good as Sancho ain’t an alternative. Ferran Torres should be the back up.

Of course going for another player that is a cheap option
