Angel Gomes has rejected a new contract at Manchester United.

Gomes, who became Man United's youngest debutant since 1953, is now set to become a free agent with his deal to expire at the end of June.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had hoped he would sign a new deal, but the Red Devils were unable to reach an agreement with his representatives, as they were "underwhelmed" by the offer on the table.

According to The Athletic's Laurie Whitwell, as relayed by @utdreport, United made an improved offer to try and keep him, although he had reservations about game time.

He has not featured since the Premier League restart and has now made up his mind to leave Old Trafford in the summer.

The 19-year-old, who turns 20 in August, has a number of intermediaries acting on his behalf.

Jorge Mendes has assisted his family over the years, as he represents his godfather Nani, while super-agent Pini Zahavi took over proceedings, and this has reignited Chelsea's interest.

Gomes has only played 36 minutes of senior football all season and it is too early to tell if he will be able to live up to his full potential in the future.

Naturally, loads of United fans slammed the teenager's "mistake," as several think he has made the wrong decision. One fan branded the situation as a "disaster" while another added he is "bang average" in reference to the fact he is still largely unproven.
