Manchester United captain Harry Maguire played through the pain for two months with a hip injury sustained in January.

Maguire moved to Old Trafford from Leicester City for £80m last year, which is a world record fee for a defender.

He has subsequently helped Ole Gunnar Solskjaer turn things around at the Theatre of Dreams, as Man United are unbeaten since the 2-0 defeat at home to Burnley.

According to The Athletic's Laurie Whitwell, as per @utdreport, Maguire took pain-killing injections to cope with the injury.

Going into the game against Crystal Palace, the Red Devils had conceded the same amount of goals as Manchester City, fewer than top four rivals Chelsea and Leicester City, with three games left to play this season.

However, Maguire has copped a fair amount of criticism from Roy Keane lately, as the club legend has slammed him for getting beaten so easily.

The 27-year-old has suffered a dip in form in recent weeks, as United failed to keep a clean sheet against Southampton in a bitter blow to their hopes of reaching the top four.

Moreover, it is worth pointing out former boss Jose Mourinho came under scrutiny after Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw were caught taking the same pain relief several years ago.

Unsurprisingly, lots of United fans blasted the news on social media, with several supporters slating Maguire's recent displays.
