Manchester United: Fans fume as Guillem Balague reveals Red Devils missed out on Thiago because of David Moyes - Manchester United Transfer Rumours

Guillem Balague has shed new light on how Manchester United missed out on Thiago Alcantara – much to the disgust of many of the club’s supporters.

The Spanish football expert revealed that former Red Devils manager David Moyes rejected the chance to sign Thiago in 2013. Balague posted a series of tweets to provide fresh insight into a transfer saga that has baffled supporters for ages.

Thiago seemed certain to move to Old Trafford before he jumped ship and reunited with his old boss Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich instead. However, Moyes decided he wasn’t the right choice and the midfielder eventually moved to Germany.

The journalist reported that the Spaniard told his agent to ring Man United twice but received the same answer on both occasions.

Thiago is now considering his future at the Allianz Arena and wants to embrace a new challenge. The Red Devils’ missed opportunity ended up paving the way for Scott McTominay to seize his chance.

Unsurprisingly, many United fans will be wondering what might have been if the 29-year-old had arrived at the Theatre of Dreams all those years ago and loads of them slammed Moyes on social media, with one fan lamenting the “trash” he brought in, while others felt that he made a “mistake” and was totally “clueless”.
