Manchester United: Fans react to positive transfer update on Sergio Reguilon

Manchester United are still keen on signing a new defender, and the latest news suggests that a deal for a left-back is moving along nicely, and a lot of fans are reacting to this news.
According to José Félix Díaz, and tweeted out by utdreport, the negotiations between Real Madrid and United for Sergio Reguilon have intensified with the La Liga side looking for around €25 million for the defender. Real Madrid are also still looking to get him back after 1-2 seasons.
If you compare 23 year-old Reguilon to current Man United left-backs Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams, then you can definitely see how he would be an upgrade as the Spaniard, who was on loan at Sevilla last season, picked up two goals and four assists; Shaw got none whilst Williams scored one goal, via WhoScored. Defensively, Reguilon has managed on average 1.8 tackles and 1.1 interceptions per game, which was better than both Williams and Shaw.
It will obviously be annoying that they might not be able to keep the defender for the long-term, but he would be a great addition to bolster the squad for a couple of seasons and it gives the club longer to find a future replacement.
Here is what fans said following the news, and whilst many are keen to sign him they are not overly impressed by the potential of a buy-back clause…

Hopefully it happens but the buy back isn’t great

I hope we get him without the buyback clause tho otherwise that doesn’t make this deal viable

If they want a buyback why don’t we just take him on loan? Low risk for both

No way man. He’s using us as a stepping stone. Join without the buy back clause. This is disappointing.
