Manchester United have been linked with Samuel Umtiti in the current transfer window as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to bolster his squad. The latest news around the defender highlights that a move could well be on the cards.
According to Cadena Ser, via TEAMtalk, Barcelona are trying to get rid of the defender, with United as well as fellow Premier League sides West Ham United, Arsenal and Leicester City all being linked to the Frenchman.
However no offers have been made yet and the La Liga side are so desperate to get rid of him they might terminate his contract so that he is off the books at the club.
Last season, the 26 year-old managed on average 1.7 interceptions and 2.4 clearances per game for the club, via WhoScored, but only managed 18 appearances in all competitions.
However there is no doubting the calibre of player that the Red Devils could get on a free transfer as he has won the World Cup with France in the past as well as eight trophies at club level, per Transfermarkt.
There does not seem to be much risk to this transfer as Umtiti would add some good squad depth at centre-back and he would bring a wealth of experience and winning mentality to the squad and if the club desperately want a defender, they should look no further than Umtiti if he is available for nothing.
