Paris Saint-Germain want to ‘separate’ from Idrissa Gueye this summer, reports say, with Manchester United thought to be keen on the midfielder.
After arriving at the Parc des Princes from Everton for £30m last year, the entanglement hasn’t worked out as well as planned.
His transfer was far from easy as Manchester United tried to disrupt proceedings. More recently the midfielder has been touted to make a return to the Premier League, amid renewed interest from the Red Devils and Wolves.
Gueye played over 100 games in all competitions for the Toffees during his three-year spell at Goodison Park before he left Merseyside for the Ligue 1 giants.
French publication Le10 Sport claim PSG want to sell the Senegalese after just 12 months at the club.
The 64-cap Senegal international made 20 league appearances in his debut campaign, scoring one goal, supplying three assists, making 3.3 tackles per game, averaging 1.7 interceptions and completing 1.2 key passes on average (via WhoScored).
According to Le10 Sport, PSG sporting director Leonardo is ‘in the process’ of offloading Gueye, and Man United could be about to make a move.
Last month the outlet claimed that Solskjaer is considering signing the former Aston Villa man as he is on the look-out for midfield recruits in the summer.
His position in Paris seems untenable at this point in time as his future in the French capital is reportedly “crumbling from week to week.”
The champions want to sell him as they are already searching for reinforcements in the middle of the field. As it stands, neither Premier League club have launched bids for Gueye but this could all change in the coming days.
He is currently valued at £21.6m via Transfermarkt and if the Red Devils can get him for around that price range then he could turn out to be a shrewd signing indeed.
