According to ESPN, Borussia Dortmund are keeping a close eye on Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood. As expected, this shock revelation has drawn a lot of reactions from the fan base.
The Bundesliga club has developed a habit over the years of poaching the best young English talent available, signing Jadon Sancho from Manchester City, and lining up a bid for highly-touted Birmingham City teenager Jude Bellingham.
After being handed his debut by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last year, the 18-year-old has dazzled the Old Trafford crowds throughout the season, despite the fact that most of his appearances so far have come off the bench.
The England U-21 international has scored 14 goals in 39 games across all competitions under the club legend, taking 1.3 shots per game, averaging 0.6 key passes, and making 0.6 dribbles on average overall (via WhoScored). His current market value is priced at £26.1m via Transfermarkt.
All things considered, it is hardly surprising the United academy graduate is the latest to catch their attention, but fans will be reassured that the board have no intention whatsoever of including Greenwood in any talks concerning his fellow countryman in the summer (ESPN).
Unsurprisingly, plenty of supporters slammed the German side’s interest in the starlet, with one fan urging the board to “pull out the deal,” and another mockingly adding “you wish.”
