Manchester United have been linked to some of the biggest stars in the world but one player might catch fans by surprise.

Recent reports have revealed the Red Devils are prepared to make a shock move for Matteo Guendouzi this summer.

According to The Daily Express, as relayed by Sky Sports, Guendouzi may be about to leave the Emirates after angering Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta with his attitude.

The 21-year-old, who joined Arsenal from French Ligue 2 side Lorient in 2018, started his career in the famed Paris Saint-Germain academy before moving to the Stade du Moustoir.

The Gunners are looking to offload the hotheaded Frenchman to clubs in swap deals as Arteta is aware he will be strapped for cash in the summer.

Guendouzi has not played for Arsenal since a controversial incident against Brighton last month.

However, the midfielder has attracted attention from La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, with Arsenal reportedly ready to sell after a clash with Neal Maupay.

Now, Man United have thrown their name into the mix.

Despite his antics, Guendouzi has played 24 games in the Premier League for Arteta's side this season, supplying one assist, making 1.3 tackles, averaging 1.2 interceptions and completing 1.4 clearances on average (via WhoScored).

While some fans may be shocked by United's interest, it is easy to understand why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is considering a move for the £36m-valued ace.

Nemanja Matic is the club's only recognised defensive midfielder at the moment, which is a major cause for concern as the veteran isn't getting any younger.

On the other hand, Guendouzi is still at the early stages of his career, and he has been compared to Cesc Fabregas, who was also linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Solskjaer could actually kill two birds with one stone and use Chris Smalling as part of a swap for the youngster, as Arsenal are desperate to sign a defender this summer.
