Manchester United are prepared to continue their push for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho this summer, according to a report by Bleacher Report.
It has been claimed the Red Devils are ready to hand the England international the famed number seven shirt, whilst also give him a contract worth £200,000-a-week as they see him as a candidate to help turn them back into Premier League title contenders.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are continuing to keep in touch with the youngster’s representatives, although they will need to be able to provide the 20-year-old with Champions League football and, ultimately, meet Dortmund’s demands of receiving upwards of £100m for a transfer to even happen.
Sancho’s career has undergone a meteoric rise over the last few years, which has sent a number of clubs into delirium as they look to capture his services with a number of global powerhouses all keen on the talented youngster (per Sky Sports), who has become a regular within the England international scene as well.
His progression at Dortmund will have played a significant role as he has taken the Bundesliga by storm since arriving in Germany, having recorded figures of 31 goals and 42 in 90 appearances for BVB – with 30 goal contributions coming in 23 top-flight games this season (as per TransferMarkt).
Indeed, although he can play on both wings, he is perhaps better suited on the right – having played on that side of the pitch more regularly for the Black and Yellow outfit – and could potentially work in tandem with Daniel James at Manchester United, who appears to alternate between the two flanks.
Sancho has proved to be a clinical attacking threat and can be dangerous in the final third of the pitch, as he has an average of two shots per game, 2.3 key passes and completes 2.6 dribbles every 90 minutes – achieving a match rating of 7.9 across the 23 Bundesliga outings (per WhoScored).
When adding in James’ totals in his debut season for the Red Devils, it can be rather easy to surmise why Solskjaer wants the duo playing together at Old Trafford. The Wales international achieves an average of 1.4 shots per game, 0.9 key passes and completes one dribble over the course of 27 Premier League appearances (per WhoScored).
Indeed, with figures that Sancho has produced during his time in Germany, it is hardly a surprise to see Dortmund demand astronomical figures for his transfer, whilst Manchester United are prepared to make him one of their top-earners (via Spotrac) and hand him their famous number seven shirt to try and sweeten a potential deal.
The 20-year-old fits the profile regarding the type of player Solskjaer wants to bring in to the club, so perhaps a move back to the city of Manchester could well be on the cards in the very near future, provided they achieve Champions League football for next season.
