# Manchester United unlikely to bring legend back to England

[![It is his last chance for a big move](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Cristiano-Ronaldo-500x360.jpg?admin)](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Cristiano-Ronaldo.jpg?admin)Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are gutted that one of their all-time favourite players looks unlikely to return to Old Trafford before hanging up his boots.

They’d hoped that Cristiano Ronaldo, who starred for the Red Devils from 2003-2009, would return from Real Madrid one day to create more memories at United.

However, those dreams appear to have been shattered by Ronaldo himself as he [stated his intentions to finish his career at ‘the best club in the world](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/oct/14/cristiano-ronaldo-keep-playing-real-madrid-40)‘- a statement that provides more hurt to United fans surrounding the bar.

[Speaking to](https://www.marca.com/2015/10/13/futbol/equipos/real_madrid/1444772373.html)*[Marca,](https://www.marca.com/2015/10/13/futbol/equipos/real_madrid/1444772373.html)* he issued his belief that he still has five or six more years at the highest level before he called time on an illustrious career.

> “I am 30 and I want to play five or six more years, and in that time I want to do things right and maintain the level of recent seasons.”
>
> “I want to win and I’m at the best club in the world. Obviously I have a contract up to 33, and as I have said many times my dream was to finish here at Real Madrid, because I feel good, I feel useful, and I want to continue.”

Ronaldo is just one-goal away from becoming Real Madrid’s all-time goalscorer, moving ahead of former Spanish international Raul, which would give the Portuguese maestro another impressive accolade.

**Manchester United fans, is there any chance Ronaldo could return to play for your club? Let us know in the comments below!**
