# Manchester United: Willian Jose transfer news has supporters glad they haven’t signed Real Sociedad striker

**According to a [report from Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/transfer/news/12691/11922089/willian-jose-manchester-united-turn-down-chance-to-sign-striker-but-tottenham-talks-ongoing), Manchester United have opted not to sign Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose despite being in the market for a forward – with these Red Devils supporters possibly thankful that they didn’t land ‘[another Falcao](https://twitter.com/szhlo/status/1222987749705338880?s=21)‘.**

A piece of news from [Sky Sports via the Metro](https://metro.co.uk/2020/01/31/willian-jose-offered-loan-manchester-united-tottenham-still-working-deal-12157431/) had originally indicated that the La Liga club were open to offloading Jose to United, but those talks have since gone on to evaporate – with Premier League rivals Spurs [reportedly](https://www.skysports.com/transfer/news/12691/11922089/willian-jose-manchester-united-turn-down-chance-to-sign-striker-but-tottenham-talks-ongoing) in the hunt to sign the Brazilian instead. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is currently hunting for a short term option to replace the influential

Marcus Rashford who is currently [sidelined](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/man-utd-marcus-rashford-injury-17611293) due to injury. Compared to the Englishman, Jose just doesn’t compete in terms of statistics – with Rashford accumulating a superior 3.4 shots, 2 dribbles and 1.1 key passes per game, as well as racking up nearly double the goal return before his knock, [as per WhoScored.com.](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/300299/Show/Marcus-Rashford)

As a result, some supporters could be joyous at the fact they will not be pursuing Jose’s signature – with one fan comparing him to ‘[another Falcao](https://twitter.com/szhlo/status/1222987749705338880?s=21)‘. Here’s what they had to say on Twitter.

> That’s another falcao… iSak is benching him now. Go for Isak instd

> He’s not the striker from Sociedad a team like Manchester United should be looking at. What about the guy they intend on keeping and playing ahead of him. Alexander Isak.
