# Tottenham fans fume at latest Conte replacement rumours

**[Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/) fans have been left fuming with the news that Fulham boss [Marco Silva](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/marco-silva/) could replace [Antonio Conte](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/antonio-conte/) as manager.**

### The Lowdown: Silva leading the race?

According to a recent [report](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/21695631/marco-silva-tottenham-manager-antonio-conte-fulham/) from The Sun, Silva has now emerged as the top contender for the manager’s job, amid the uncertainty surrounding Conte’s future at N17.

Football Insider correspondent Pete O’Rourke has [reported](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-fulham-accelerate-marco-silva-new-deal-talks-to-fend-off-tottenham/) that Fulham are accelerating talks with their manager regarding a new deal, in a bid to put the rumours linking him with a move away to bed.

It remains to be seen whether the 45-year-old is tempted by a move across the capital, but it is fair to say some fans have not reacted well to the news…

### The Latest: Tottenham fans react

Taking to Twitter in the wake of the report, several Spurs fans expressed their frustration about the potential appointment.

They said:

*“It would be the most Spursy thing to do to sack Conte and hire Marco Silva. Absolute criminal”* – [@HalfwayLino](https://twitter.com/HalfwayLino/status/1635332405753163776?s=20)

*“We’ve gone from Luis Enrique to Marco Silva in a week…” –* [@MagsDNK](https://twitter.com/MagsDNK/status/1635351555963752448?s=20)

“*Are we really that desperate” –* [@ballie\_lamin](https://twitter.com/ballie_lamin/status/1635351068598210560?s=20)

*“I’m usually open minded to new managers. No thanks.”* – [@CR1995THFC](https://twitter.com/CR1995THFC/status/1635330817831620608?s=20)

“*So spursy if we get him” –* [@F0rcedawg](https://twitter.com/F0rcedawg/status/1635325416394354688?s=20)

*“Didn’t he fail at Watford and Everton? Not an appointment anyone would be excited about.” –* [@Pabzevz](https://twitter.com/PabsEvz/status/1635329528519352320?s=20)

*“Plays some of the most boring football in the league” –* [@ShayTHFC](https://twitter.com/ShayTHFC/status/1635327801997000704?s=20)

### The Verdict: Uninspiring appointment

Given that the Portuguese tactician has been [sacked](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11671/11829928/marco-silva-sacked-by-everton-after-liverpool-defeat) by the likes of Everton and [Watford](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11686/11216794/watford-manager-marco-silva-sacked) in his previous [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) jobs, there is no doubting that Spurs could do a lot better.

Thomas Tuchel is one man who has been linked to the job, and he has a much better pedigree, having won the 2020-21 Champions League with Chelsea, also [picking up](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/thomas-tuchel/erfolge/trainer/7471) the world’s best club coach award in the same year.

A move for former manager Mauricio Pochettino is also likely to get Spurs fans a lot more excited than Silva, given his previous history with the club, while Lille manager Paulo Fonseca is also being [considered](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/paolo-fonseca-manager-news-rumours-latest-updates/), with the Mozambique-born coach winning [nine](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paulo-fonseca/erfolge/trainer/19944) trophies in a glittering managerial career.

If Tottenham have a strong end to the Premier League season, they could also explore the possibility of offering Conte new terms, considering his previous [success](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/antonio-conte/erfolge/trainer/3517) in both Italy and England.

One thing for certain is that Silva would be an uninspiring appointment for a club of Spurs’ size, and Daniel Levy should only swoop for the Fulham boss as a last resort.
