# Massive blow for Liverpool as midfield man rejects new deal

[![Jordan Henderson](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Henderson--500x346.jpg)](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Henderson-.jpg?admin)Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are rolling their eyes in disbelief as [Metro](https://metro.co.uk/2015/03/08/liverpool-blow-as-jordan-henderson-rejects-new-80000-a-week-contract-5093398/?ito=v-a) seems to think that the Reds are set to face a fight to keep hold of Jordan Henderson.

The midfielder has been simply sensational and it seems that the stand in skipper will not be penning the new £80,000 per week contract that has been offered to him – and we are fairly surprised that is the case.

As one of our punters notes over a pint, despite [reported interest](https://metro.co.uk/2015/03/08/liverpool-blow-as-jordan-henderson-rejects-new-80000-a-week-contract-5093398/?ito=v-a) from Barcelona, we do not think Henderson actually has any intention of leaving the Merseyside club and is probably just holding out for a few more thousand pounds a week and considering his contribution to the side – not to mention the fact that he is set to take the captain’s armband from Steven Gerrard, we do not blame him!
