# Nottingham Forest: Fans discuss the future of Matty Cash

**Matty Cash has been a stand-out player for Nottingham Forest this season and his transition to right-back has been a revelation so far.**

Per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/174/Show/England-Nottingham-Forest), his average rating of 7.2 makes him the Reds’ most consistent player this term, and his effectiveness going forward and in defending has made a big difference to the team’s fortunes. As a result, Ben Watson has been [speaking highly (per the Nottingham Post)](https://www.nottinghampost.com/sport/football/transfer-news/nottingham-forest-transfer-verdict-no-3861389) of his teammate, reflecting on the interest in him that arose in January and stating that it is likely to re-emerge in the summer.

The likes of Southampton and AC Milan were [reported](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11727/11914954/matty-cash-ac-milan-southampton-interested-in-nottingham-forest-defender) to be paying attention to the right-back, which shows the regard in which he is held, and that has worried some Forest fans.

There has been a discussion about Watson’s comments with many supporters fearing that the 22-year-old is likely to depart at the end of the season, and they will likely hope that he demands a larger fee than the £3.6m he is rated at by [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matty-cash/profil/spieler/425334).

Here are some of the things being said regarding Cash’s future.

> I think Cash, Lolley and Samba Brice will all be playing for other clubs if we do not go up, maybe even a couple more

> If we don’t go up I can’t see us keeping him tbf. Will take a massive bid though

> In the past it’s been said about Reid, Dawson, Brereton, Burke and now Cash. Forest are just incredible and sporting talent and nurturing talent if Cash goes I bet there’s somebody else waiting for their chance.
