Middlesbrough’s search for a new manager has become ‘even more complicated’ with Wolves set for talks with potential target Rob Edwards, Scott Wilson reports.

The Lowdown: Edwards talks

Boro are yet to make any real progress when it comes to bringing in Chris Wilder’s successor after parting ways with the 55-year-old earlier this month.

Edwards has been one name in the mix after holding talks with Boro officials and is still thought to be in the frame. Another potential candidate is former midfielder Lee Cattermole, however, the club have ‘called a temporary halt’ to their pursuit of a new manager.

The Latest: Wolves update

Edwards is reportedly under serious consideration for a role at Molineux and is set for talks after Julen Lopetegui turned Wolves down.

Wilson took to Twitter on Thursday to share the news, saying that Boro’s managerial search has now become ‘even more complicated’.

The Verdict: Time’s ticking…

Steve Gibson and co have now had almost two weeks to find a Wilder’s successor, however, it looks as if fans may have to wait even longer for a new face in the dugout.

Edwards was recently sacked by Watford and may well end up joining Wolves following the recent update, which could leave Boro back at square one.

The likes of Cattermole and Michael Carrick have also been rumoured, however, they are both inexperienced options and could be viewed as a gamble by some, especially with the club flirting with the relegation zone at this moment in time.
