# Midfielder makes clear demands amid advanced Liverpool talks

***This has gotten the Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern very excited…***

There has been a tangible sense of excitement spreading amongst the Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern since it was [confirmed](https://www.lagalaxy.com/post/2016/11/15/steven-gerrard-depart-la-galaxy) that Steven Gerrard would be leaving LA Galaxy.

When Gerrard left Liverpool in 2015, there was always a hope that he would one day return to Anfield, and much to the joy of the Reds in the Tavern – that day could come sooner, rather than later.

[According to goal.com](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2016/11/16/29571942/-), Steven Gerrard has held talks with Liverpool about a possible return – with talks [described](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2016/11/16/29571942/-) as being at an ‘advanced stage’.

Interestingly, [goal.com](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2016/11/16/29571942/-) note that Gerrard is hesitant to make a quick deal with the club – and instead wants to ensure that his position holds some significance; rather than it being simply a symbolic role.

This is absolutely fantastic news for the Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern – many of whom have called for Gerrard’s return since the moment he left.

Steven Gerrard made an incredible 710 appearances during a storied career with Liverpool, and has cemented his legacy as one of the best to ever wear the famous Liverpool red.  Whilst the Premier League remained elusive for the ex-Liverpool captain, Gerrard won a plethora of trophies with his hometown club – including the likes of the FA Cup and the much coveted UEFA Champions League.

Our landlord thinks that this could prove to be a stroke of genius from Liverpool – as Gerrard knows the club better than anyone else.

Ahead of Gerrard’s potential return, here’s a little bit of a refresher so you can see just how good he was…
