# Leeds: Transfer expert talks up Takumi Minamino links

**[Liverpool](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-news/) forward Takumi Minamino could be a ‘really intriguing’ potential signing by [Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.**

### The Lowdown: Leeds linked with Minamino

Leeds secured their [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) status after a dramatic 2-1 win away to Brentford last weekend, so the focus can now turn to new signings in the summer.

One player with whom the Whites have been [linked](https://anfieldwatch.co.uk/liverpool-put-17m-price-tag-on-reds-forward-looking-for-exit-this-summer/) is Minamino, with the Japan international potentially leaving Liverpool after this weekend’s Champions League final and [reportedly keen](https://anfieldwatch.co.uk/liverpool-put-17m-price-tag-on-reds-forward-looking-for-exit-this-summer/) on departing the Reds.

The 27-year-old has struggled for game-time this season, with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino [all ahead of him](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/leistungsdaten/verein/31) in the pecking order at Anfield.

### The Latest: Minamno could be ‘nice fit’ for Leeds

Jones believes that Minamino could be a shrewd signing by Leeds if they can lure him to Elland Road over the summer.

The journalist told [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/88012655-leeds-top-class-17m-star-would-fit-in-well-at-elland-road):

> “I think he’s a really nice fit, actually. Minamino is not a bad player at all, he’s just been a victim of Liverpool’s success in a way. He just hasn’t been as good as Jota and Diaz when they’ve come in.
>
> “We saw him against Southampton, what he can still do. I think that Jesse Marsch has a philosophy that Minamino fits in well with. He works hard, he follows orders. It could be a really intriguing one.”

### The Verdict: Exciting summer target

Minamino could be a perfect option for Jesse Marsch to bring in this summer, possessing the qualities required to be a success in this Leeds team. He is [hard-working](https://www.thisisanfield.com/2019/12/takumi-minamino-scout-report-liverpool-transfer-salzburg/) and capable of playing [across several positions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/takumi-minamino/leistungsdaten/spieler/165793), whether that is in a central or attacking midfield role, or anywhere across the front line.

Furthermore, the 27-year-old has showcased his goalscoring prowess this season, [finding the net 10 times](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/262838/Show/Takumi-Minamino) in all competitions despite playing [just over 1,000 minutes](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/takumi-minamino/leistungsdaten/spieler/165793) in total and being [hailed](https://anfieldwatch.co.uk/a-complete-performance-jurgen-klopp-full-of-praise-for-takumi-minamino/) by his manager Jurgen Klopp as a ‘complete’ player.

He could immediately take Leeds up a gear in the attacking third if they can sign him from Liverpool, so they should make every effort to try and make this move happen.
